Old habits die especially hard when lifestyle solutions meet inefficient habits. The lyrics, “But I’m half delirious, it’s too mysterious… I act like an addict, I just got to have it…” from the Rolling Stones song may not exactly be about food and lifestyle addiction but they hit home for all addictions. The most damaging addiction is not love or drugs, but food. More illness and premature deaths result from food by way of heart diseases and cancer than any other cause.
Yet we know the solution and it is not mysterious and it does not make you delirious. In fact it is impossible to prove that 99.9% of all chronic illness, as well as obesity, fatigue, headaches, stomach aches, all cold and flu “symptoms” and whatever else drives the drug economy is NOT reversed and even cured by proper diet.
Gaining excess bodyweight or having sugar cravings or mood swings is not due mostly to emotional disorders or “diseases” but to ignorance. The addictions (or “habits” as they are euphemistically called in our “newspeak jargon politically correct society) that are the direct result of improper yet instilled-into-the-child food teachings and cultural habits are the main culprits yet “experts” in our society continue to treat symptoms instead of simply changing the diet to the one that follows our original design principles.
Without getting into any long discussions about weather a meat-based diet or a cooked food-based diet or a grain-based diet have any health benefits over a raw vegan diet of mostly juicy fruits and dark greens eaten properly is not my intent. If you are reading this then you are well aware of world history epidemiological consensus. That a plant-based raw diet is by far the best way to build and maintain optimum health is irrefutable. For debates to even be considered only reveal the fact that those debating have not experienced health in their lives yet choose to discuss it. That is purely illogical and we are people of action not of idle talk.
I have never experienced health until I went raw. Of course it took me a while to get it right. Of course I felt terrific within a few days (everyone does) just by eliminating cooked foods. It felt better than when I systematically eliminated animal foods twenty-five years ago.
The health that you can achieve JUST by what you put into your mouth (we tend to discount such a seemingly simple gesture as valueless compared to things of greater “value” such as working out like a banshee) is staggering if you have never done more than quit red meat or taken vitamin pills like so many health nuts.
The hard truth is that no matter how hard or long or how many decades you exercise, you will not even come close to the health benefits that result from adopting a truly raw truly whole plant based diet. These are powerful words. Whole does not mean from a box or a bottle; it means whole exactly the way it grows. Don’t laugh. Some people actually think that a box of organic macaroni and cheese is a healthy food. It came from the health aisle after all.
But the hardest habit to kill is that of mental addiction and ignorance to what is right. For example, we are raised to believe that eating half a watermelon or six mangoes or a smoothie of six bananas is too much fruit since we have been lead to believe that sugar is sugar no matter what.
It is not so. Even so-called nutrition expert gurus with decades of radio talk show or internet milage seem to put research together without testing it themselves. It is not easy for most people to make the mental leap to eat half a watermelon for breakfast. Or a party-sized salad bowl for dinner. So they never find out how the body can perform when fueled properly. Just because people do not die in the streets at age forty does not mean that the standard diet is good.
Nutritional excellence is plant based, whole, and centered around fruit and dark green leafy vegetables, or GREENS.
Habits must be broken. It is not as if the body is at risk. On the contrary. The body is at risk to stay with the same old habits.
Why then are most of us reticent to change? Why do we resist when paradise awaits? Paradise health is never suffering from chronic ills. Never. Ever. That is correct. Never ever. It is hard to believe that you can go the rest of your life and never need to take another aspirin. It took me almost seven years to clear them out of my medicine cabinet. That was over fifteen years ago. Imagine never needing as much as one aspirin in twenty years? I can’t imagine otherwise.
So why do most people resist, or slow the process down to the proverbial “one day of procrastination at a time?” Old habits die hard.
Even as simple a thing as losing excess weight is attacked with such complex fervor that you would think they are trying to launch a rocket to the moon that carries a thousand people. Remember this: if you do the correct task you will get the correct result. It just so happens that the most significant change you can make in how you enjoy or do not enjoy life is what you put into your mouth. A SIGNIFICANT change however is needed not just a drop in the ocean.
There lies lots of resistance between making the change and getting the desired result. The results should be so amazingly significant that it literally makes you laugh and cry out loud. You should see such significant improvement in your body and health that you can not believe it.
That is not how it is for most people who play around with change. Only those who are truly able to decide to do it all the way are rewarded. It is amazing to me, in fact how I danced around “going all the way” when I first decided to go raw. I should state that more succinctly: the day I first decided to truly get healthy.
It has nothing to do with raw, really. It is by eliminating every single food that is not 100% health-promoting. All that is left is whole, raw fruits and vegetables. Ripe of course. Don’t let anyone fool you into thinking that fresh whole food is not delicious! They just did not know how to eat it. But then again it would only take them a few weeks to learn how to purchase and store fresh fruits and veggies to become quite expert, so that if anyone has anything negative to say then you know right up front that they are not really negative- they have just never gotten their feet wet enough.
Raw is simply the end-all, be-all last bastion of truth in food. Nothing else other than raw ripe whole fruits and the proper veggies, nuts and seeds, is fit for human consumption anyway. Most of what we call “food” is not fit for animals either, or insects. Think about it. Then think about how simple it is to figure out why everyone is so sick and tired and overweight. This is not rocket science. Nutritionists and natural doctors only serve to complicate the issue. Mother nature is so far ahead. And so much easier to understand. And she always produces the best health results no matter what.
There may be a few new habits that you may not feel comfortable with, but that is because you may not understand them. The best way to commit to this is to see and feel such fantastic health results that you are motivated beyond any “rah rah” raw food health advocate’s cajoling song. That is precisely why we have created the RawSkilz class and Best Weigh Program along with the Qi Si Sana Food plan. Only when you eat raw day after day can you transition and then truly get the results. You have to live it, moving yourself all he way from “research” and conjecture to actual feeling and experience. Owning the truth is the best feeling in the world. You go from seeker to “arrived.” From that point forward no amount of debates interest you in the least. They show themselves for what they are: fruitless. You move on to living life and not searching for answers to the unfortunately unsolved health problems that plague the masses. You have moved on.
“So let us then be up and doing…with a heart for any fate…still achieving, still pursuing… learn to labor and to wait.” From the Psalm of Life by Henry Wordsworth Longfellow.
