Why not do both?
"The best proof by far is experience" - Sir Francis Bacon
What is the 80 10 10 Diet? Even Dr. Doug Graham reminds us that 80 10 10 is not a new concept. Or a raw vegan concept. It is the way human calories must be proportioned in terms of percentage of carbohydrate, protein, and fat as part of your total dietary intake.
"My program" as people who never met me or never took my program here at The Best Weigh Center For Ultimate Health, facilitates the transition from the standard popular diet that is the main cause dis-ease and lack of fitness and energy, as well as healthy wellness and longevity to a state of proper balance of health, wellness and fitness.
The First Supper Program, The RawSkilz Program, as well as others that Chris Califano, certified PFS, chef, and wellness professional has been teaching since 1978 has evolved from vegan to raw. But the proportion of calories devoted to carbohydrates, protein and fats have never changed.
The backbone of Chris' Best Weigh program are 1) fundamentals of nutrition and physiology (knowledge), and 2) Putting it all together in a streamlined, easy-to follow program that addresses practical, motivational, as well as psychological factors. (facilitation).
The Glen Cove brick and mortar location is a modest but comprehensive two-floor combination of 1) media, workshop/seminar space, 2) seriously equipped human performance and fitness facility and 3) raw food and sports nutrition teaching kitchen.
The beauty of the program is the seamless transitioning as the student and client substitutes poor habits and lifestyles for positive ones.
Everyone knows that they have to exercise. And eat "right". Chris not only explains what the best way is but backs it up with his own clinical experience and scientific back up. (The un-brainwashing room at The Best Weigh facility is where people may warm up for the weight training component of their training while they watch the best of the best doctors, scientists and wellness professionals present the scientific basis for the fundamental reasons why a plant based and raw diet are superior in all aspects.
Others debate. The Best Weigh and The First Supper facilitates. Not one single client in 30 years has not significantly improved their health and fitness level when compared to drugs, supplements (Chris does not advocate supplements except for B12, and only to be safe, not due to his clients ever suffering any major deficiencies) or other "popular" diets or fitness regimes.
Efficiency and results have always been what Chris has been interested in, and it is a good thing that he never got caught up in dogma or swayed by the opinions of others with a good talk but who may have only had a few years of experience, or had not enjoyed the clinical results that Chris has experienced over the past three decades as a wellness and fitness professional.

| The bottom line is that fundamentals will never change until we mutate as a species when it comes to diet and fitness and what works the best.
Fundamentals are basic components such as sleeping in tune with our natural circadian rhythms, eating the bulk of our calories from carbohydrate (fruit being the cleanest, easiest to assimilate and most nutritionally suited to us), limiting our total protein to no more than ten percent (5% being better, as T. Colin Campbell reminds us), eating a primarily vegan and raw diet (history proves that humans have evolved as opportunists but that optimum health and longevity stems from a plant-based diet and if animal food is consumed, it is only rarely and in extremely small amounts. History proves this*), not eating later than sundown (our metabolism does not digest half as well unless eating is done at the proper time), and other components such as avoiding certain acid-to-alkaline food combinations, chewing correctly, not guzzling smoothies, not relying of "fringe" or processed treats or so-called "superfood snacks" as nutrition, etc.
Bottom line: Chris has been practicing and teaching the basic fundamentals of fitness and nutrition for longer than vegan, raw, or fitness has been popular. The basics are the basics. Raw is just the icing on the cake.
80 10 10 is even better served sometimes as 90 5 5. The main thing to remember if you are just starting out is to eat the bulk of your calories from carbohydrates, and to severely limit (compared to the popular diet "guidelines" that are market-driven) proteins and fats in your diet.
Once you can do this, then you can move on to vegan. Once you get that down pat then you can significantly increase your raw food intake. When you are experienced enough to do this then you can become 100% raw, which when done the best way will yield the best results in health and fitness by far.
The Best Weigh Program of fitness training and food training in our dedicated kitchen all under one roof in our two-floor facility (not someone's house), puts it all together into one easy to follow, seamless transition that takes you from where you are to where you want to be.
