Modern technology has shined a spotlight on many B12 myths that may have scared people in the past. B12 is produced mostly by re-absporbtion in the lower intestine. The daily requirement for this bacteria/hormone precursor is incredibly small and is taken care of by a non-sterile natural diet such as a 100% vegan high-raw diet where some of your fruits, greens or vegetables either come from a home garden or are organic and not washed profusely so as to retain the valuable natural microbes that our intestinal flora needs to function properly. In fact, only 1% of this bacteria is absorbed from outside sources, especially supplements anyway. Our bodies prefer to get this from the plant foods we eat raw. They must be raw since once they are cooked, this activity is destroyed. Furthermore, meat eaters, and especially those who eat cooked foods have the lowest amounts of B12. Contrary to popular belief and recommendations by supposedly savvy nutritionists and natural doctors, just having B12 floating around in your bloodstream does not mean that you have enough B12. Just the opposite- that means that you are simply doped with the supplement. The main problem with this rare deficiency among vegans is poor digestion and assimilating among the entire population due to wrong eating since birth. It takes 20 years for deficiencies to develop. The chances of you becoming deficient in B12 or any nutrient is extremely slim when you become healthy after eating the proper stages of a vegan then raw then high raw, which can be carefully monitored by an experienced physician for you to feel "safe". I have to say this and add a disclaimer since there are so few qualified doctors and nutritionists, yet there are so many people who take my advice the wrong way. I had many clients in the past who I helped and who went on my program for a short time. But most of them 1) did not follow it properly. They stopped their food plans early and I would see them eating unhealthy foods! 2) changed their diet back and forth, leaving out vital ingredients that I advised 3) did not get adequate sunlight for weeks on end 4) did not develop normal healthy eating and sleeping times. A very small percentage of these people did not get the same stellar results that the majority of my clients did, not due to the program failing, but because they were living extremely unhealthy lives. Few cooked food or even meat eaters or smokers and drinkers would even fall into the same patterns of some people that I have met! Of course, they all take pills, powders and supplements, eat poorly and are sick all the time.
I gave a consultation to one husband of a woman who was extremely happy with results that she had gotten after only a few weeks . After having the food, she was able to run three miles "with much less effort than the one mile had taken before". She urged her husband to come see what this raw thing was all about for himself, since he was a skeptic and that she had admitted ate very poorly and was suffering. He fired dozens of unrelated questions at me during the educational presentation. He missed 90% of it. He tried to sell me on some "natural supplements" that his natural doctor from his church made special. Then he criticized the decorative medallion around my neck and said it was evil. I noticed that his breath from down deep in his gut smelled of a thousand opened graves. I tried to speak to him but he kept getting off subject. In any case, he cancelled his food plan after less than two deliveries and had a heart attack a few weeks later. The bottom line is that genuine health knows no deficiencies since it practices genuine health. B12 has been at the crux of a major controversy for over three decades now. Since countless famous books promoting a plant based diet have been written, people have started trying to adopt many healthy habits but have also become brainwashed into thinking that vegetarians or vegans are lacking "vitamin B12". (The meaning of the words vegan and vegetarian have been taken so loosely that it is rare to see it taken seriously...a Times Magazine article many years ago surveyed Americans and asked, "What does vegetarianism mean to you" and a large percentage answered," Someone who eats vegetables more than twice per week!)
What's even more puzzling is that people somehow think that a plant-based diet is somehow "dangerous" or at best " hard to do or you will get into trouble". One of the "scare tactics" that has erupted is the B12 controversy. There is no controversy when it comes to nature, explained by science and proven by proper eating habits and the other lifestyle factors.
The fact that meat eaters suffer just as much from B12 deficiency is not surprising. They also suffer from Vitamin C deficiency as well as many other nutrient problems, obesity, indigestion, and a host of other maladies that never touch pure vegans as history will prove.
Fore more information about B12 and how it is manufactured by microbes in your intestine, as well as why there is such controversy surrounding it, please check out The Vitamin B12 Issue at Libaware Library of Awareness.
Most vitamin B12 comes from NY and Los Angeles sewage sludge. Few people know that most of the vitamins and minerals they may take are simply the by-products of industry, sold as fractioned materials for as much profit as possible, but little did they know that what makes up the B12 microdots they fearfully take every few weeks to make sure they suffer no "deficiencies" come from the sewers!
